Chest Pod from OMM

OMM Chest Pod — The Simple Fix for a Very Real Trail Problem

If you spend enough time in the hills, you eventually run into the same frustration: everything you need is in your backpack… and your backpack is on your back. Whether it’s gloves, snacks, a map, or your phone, stopping every ten minutes to take your pack off quickly becomes part of the day. The OMM Chest Pod is a small piece of kit designed specifically to solve that problem.

The idea is straightforward. The Chest Pod mounts to the front of a rucksack harness, putting your most-used items directly on your chest where you can reach them instantly. Despite its minimal look, it offers a surprisingly useful 4-litre capacity, with a secure zipped main compartment and a quick-access pocket for items like a map or compass.

Originally built with mountain marathons and ultra-distance running in mind, the pouch has quietly become common on start lines of long races and endurance challenges. Athletes use it to access food, hats and gloves, or navigation gear without breaking stride.

What makes it work is how unobtrusive it is. At only about 95 grams, the pod adds almost no weight, and its breathable airmesh backing keeps it comfortable during long days of movement. It attaches directly to most OMM packs and often to other brands as well, effectively turning a traditional backpack into a far more accessible carry system.

In many ways, the Chest Pod represents a different philosophy of load carriage. Instead of making packs bigger, it makes them smarter. You still carry your main kit on your back, but the things you constantly reach for live in front of you, visible and ready.

It’s a small addition, but on a long day in the hills, the OMM Chest Pod can change how often you stop and sometimes that matters more than saving a few grams.
